Czech and Spanish editions released

Saturday April 17, 2010

Daughter of Kura has been released in Czech and Spanish! The Czech language edition (Dcera Kury) is published by Prah (Prague, 2009), translated by Luboš Snížek and with gorgeous, thoughtful, and scientifically accurate illustrations by Jan Skořepa. I’m unable to judge the translation, but the quality of the illustrations is amazing. The Spanish edition (La Hija de la Tribu) is published by Ediciones B, Grupo Zeta (Barcelona, 2010), translated by Pablo M. Migliozzi. What a thrill!

Daughter of Kura book release

Monday August 3, 2009

DAUGHTER OF KURA (Touchstone/Simon & Schuster) will be available tomorrow, August 4.

In Africa a half-million years ago, a young Homo erectus woman is the first daughter of the first daughter of the Mother of Kura, matriarch of her people, a position Snap expects to inherit one day. When the men, who live apart from the women during the summer, return for the fall Bonding ceremony, a stranger arrives who brings the first stirrings of religious thoughts. As he gains power among the Kura, the structure of their society is transformed to the breaking point, and she is brutally exiled from her people. Pregnant and abandoned even by her mate, she faces winter alone with scant hope of survival. When Snap learns that destruction threatens her tribe and many others like it, she must discover the secrets of a distant clan and confront a force more deadly than any she has faced in the wild.

Please join us at the book release event 7:00 PM Thursday, August 6 at Vroman’s Bookstore, 695 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena, CA for food, drinks, discussion, reading by the author, and book signing.
